Japanese travelers prefer Hawaii and Guam for 2015 Golden Week Vacation

Japanese “Golden Week” vacation spans 9 days this year from Tuesday, April 28 to Wednesday, May 6, 2015. JAL Group (JAL) announced its passenger traffic forecast for 2015 Golden Week vacation period. Capacity during this period is 1.3% more on international routes and 3.0% lower on domestic routes compared to 2014.
The number of reservations on JAL’s international flights is currently 224,483 while domestically, bookings have reached 755,922 to date.
These represent an increase in the number of international bookings by 11.3% and domestic bookings by 9.6% respectively against the same vacation period last year.
The seat factor for JAL flights on Hawaii route is around 90.2% and approximately 95.3% for flights to and from Guam, thanks to the growing demand between Japan and leisure destinations compared to 2014. Total seat load factor is expected to be improved following the expansion of JAL SKY SUITE with the latest cabin interior onto more international routes, in addition to a significantly restoring travel demand on Southeast Asia routes than last year.
